Variable breaks depend on the employee’s working hours and, if applicable, other criteria. These are calculated when an employee has reached a specified minimum working time on a given day. This allows for a break to be assigned to employees with irregular working hours that fits their schedule. It also ensures that legal or agreed minimum break times are observed.
By clicking on “+ Add Break,” you can create a new variable break for your work schedule. Enter the working time an employee must reach in the “Threshold” field for the break to be deducted. In the “Break Duration” field, you can set the length of the break.
Threshold based on:
Specifies whether the threshold is based on gross or net working time. Gross working time includes the entire duration of the employee’s presence from the first clock-in to the last clock-out. Net working time includes the entire duration of the employee’s presence, minus already manually recorded breaks and already deducted fixed breaks.
Consideration of recorded breaks:
Here you can define whether all recorded breaks are included in the calculation, or only breaks of a certain minimum duration.
Break allocation:
This option determines whether the entire break duration is deducted immediately upon reaching the threshold, or only the proportional duration by which the threshold was exceeded is deducted.
Examples:
